The Career Employment Pathway provides faster nomination pathways for post-secondary students who graduate and find long-term employment in Manitoba in an in-demand occupation consistent with their training. If you meet these conditions, you will be eligible to apply to the MPNP immediately after graduating and obtaining the job offer.
Language
You must have a minimum level of CLB/NCLC 7.
Education in Canada
You must have graduated in the past 3 years from a designated post-secondary institution in Manitoba from a full-time program of at least one year/two semesters in length.
Work Permit / Temporary Permits
You must be working full-time in Manitoba with a valid work permit* at the time your application is assessed.
Job Offer
You must have a full-time job offer from an eligible Manitoba employer with a minimum 1-year contract in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List that is consistent with your completed program of studies in Manitoba. Note: The MPNP may impose program or occupation-specific limits. Manitoba degree-program graduates qualify provided they have a job offer in any TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 (previously NOC 0, A, or B) on the In-Demand Occupations List.
Employer Eligibility
Eligible employers:
- Are registered as a corporation, limited partnership or sole proprietorship
- Are established in Manitoba for a minimum of three years
- Have a commercial business and are not home-based
- Have a minimum of $250,000 in gross revenue in the immediate three years preceding the application
- Have an established employer-employee relationship and the employee cannot be in a partnership or proprietor relationship with the employer (e.g., owner-operator in trucking industry or partnership in a restaurant)
- Are not working with employment agencies using temporary workers
- Are not seeking to sell their business or portions of their business in the next two years
- Have a positive history with Employment Standards (no systemic history of non-compliance) and the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, if applicable
- Are not currently on the Employment and Social Development Canada/Service Canada suspension list
- Have not been assessed a fine for breaking the rules of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) or the International Mobility Program (IMP)
- Once you have determined your business meets the eligibility requirements, follow the ABC Step recruitment process. Please note that transportation and logistics businesses that employ long-haul truck drivers must satisfy the long-haul truck driver recruitment guidelines.
Residing at time of Application
You must be residing in Manitoba at the time of application.
Intention to live in Province
You must show the intent to continue to reside in Manitoba after nomination, including the submission of a Career Employment Plan demonstrating opportunities for a successful career track in Manitoba.
Additional Requirements
Some international graduates may be eligible for an extension of their post-graduation work permit (PGWP) for up to 18 months.
Funds
You must demonstrate liquid funds equivalent to low income cut-off (LICO) requirements for independent financial resources for a six-month period or you must be employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.
Ineligibility
The following are not eligible to submit an application to the MPNP:
- Refugee claimants, or individuals involved in a federal appeal or removal process
- Live-in Caregivers currently living in Canada
- Temporary foreign workers currently working and residing in a province other than Manitoba
- Spouses of Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- Individuals who have been refused by the MPNP within the last six months and who are not able to address the reason(s) for refusal
- Individuals who have an active immigration application with any other provincial immigration program or federal immigration program in Canada. Note: an Express Entry profile is not considered an immigration application.
- If you or your spouse already have an active MPNP application, you are not eligible to submit an additional application to any other stream/pathway of the MPNP.
Application Fee
Fee for this stream is set at 500 CAD
Submission of Application
- Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
- If you receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), submit a full application to the MPNP.
- Applications are thoroughly assessed by an MPNP officer.
- Successful applicants are nominated by the MPNP.
- Within 180 days from the date of nomination, make a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent residence for you and your family.
